Its amazing how much hidden costs there are in buying a car. I knew there’s going to be a few, but how much is enough?! Here’s what I picked up so far:

R690 Document fees from bank for financing.

R500 Cheque made out to myself for activating AccessFinance account.

R1700 Delivery + Collection charges by dealer.

R110/month: Topup insurance cover to cover my shortfall between car and insurance in case of total loss.

Other hidden costs are not known… penalties for early settlement, services, etc etc. Insurance is going to be about R800 rands. I’m paying almost R40k a year on this car, and its not even new! I always knew that its not worth it to spend so much money on something material. I’m positively certain now. But I know this car will be used for Good Things, so here’s holding thumbs I’m getting it today!
